For over 140 years, the Alumni Association kept the Jackrabbit spirit alive and connected graduates around the globe. For the past 80 years, the SDSU Foundation raised more than $1.3 billion in gifts and commitments to transform State into a place of possibilities. The two organizations always shared a common mission to elevate the university we all hold dear.

On January 1, 2026, we became one.

The decision to consolidate into the SDSU Alumni & Foundation is the result of decades of momentum, fueled by a vision of remarkable impact and unparalleled service. While the Alumni Association was as old as the university itself and the Foundation formed in 1945, both organizations worked side by side for decades, motivated by a shared love for the university. Over time, our teams have witnessed every historic milestone at State, advanced the transformation of our campus, and supported over 100,000 graduates. Through the years, SDSU has tackled ambitious challenges and remained unwavering in our pursuit of excellence – a pursuit that’s led us to an ever-growing alumni base and a limitless roster of causes to champion. The university has come leaps and bounds since its first trailblazing class of just three students in 1888, and, without a doubt, there has never been a better time to be a Jackrabbit. There’s also never been more work to be done to ensure this institution remains an epicenter of boundless potential.

With this consolidation, our teams can grow strategically and explore new ways to uplift the yellow and blue community. Driven by a united purpose, the SDSU Alumni & Foundation is looking ahead with gratitude for the bold horizons that await us. It’s our promise that South Dakota State will always be a place to welcome you home and a place worthy of your generosity. We aim to inspire a culture of connection and continue to build a legacy of impact, treasuring the people who make this place undeniably special – a place where loyalty lives.

What's New In 2026

This consolidation creates a streamlined experience for the Jackrabbit community while carrying forward the same service, care, and relationships you’ve always known.

Here’s what you need to know:

• Loyalty: While things may begin to look a little different, our dedication and commitment to alumni, donors, friends, and the university remains at the heart of everything we do — and will only grow stronger.
• Email: Moving forward, messages from our organization and staff will come from a new email domain: @sdstateloyalty.org. If you’re expecting a message from us and don’t see it, please check your spam folder, mark our organization as a “safe sender,” and add us as a contact to ensure you continue receiving our emails.
• New website: Our team is excited for you to explore this new website, bringing alumni programs, events, stories, STATE Magazine, giving opportunities, and ways to stay connected in one place.
• Location: You can continue to find us at the Jerome J. Lohr Building, now with one reception area located at the front entrance on the main floor.
