Tom joined the SDSU Alumni & Foundation team in March 2025 as the Development Director for the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. A Kansas native, Tom has called South Dakota home since 1980, when his family moved to Huron, SD. He is a 1990 graduate of SDSU with a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism. Tom’s background is in storytelling and sales, with his first job as a sports reporter in local TV news. Prior to joining the team, he served as a play-by-play announcer for a regional TV network covering college athletics, including numerous Jackrabbit events. Tom and his wife, Tyann, live in Sioux Falls. They have four daughters – Hannah, Olivia, Sophia, and Mya – and one grandson, Jack.
